    Match report

Stroud A entertained CLC A at  home (7.15pm start), starting on courts 2 and 3.

Strings 1 and 2 were first on court, with Wycliffe Year 13 Julian Scerri (1) taking on top 10 England U17 junior Matthew Leung on court 3. The raliies were long, tight and testing from the start, with Matthew gaining the upper hand to take both 11-9 for a 2-0 lead, but Julian pulled it back to 2-2 eking out a decider. Matthew flung himself around the court to retrieve everthing to keep in the rallies, and converted many of them into points on the scoreboard. Matthew held firm in the fifth to win the match 3-2; a well-mannered and good spirited contest.

Sacha Cooper (2) on court 2 took on Andy Gayler for the first time, winning the first well 11-3. Andy pulled back the second 11-6, before Sacha stayed ahead in both the 3rd and 4th to claim victory in 4.

Seamus Parker (3) could not pull back any games after losing the first 11-2, though the scoreboard shows the second and third were close.

Dave Norton (4) avenged recent defeats to Lawrence Barraclough by swinging games in his favour to win 3-1.

Simon Boucher played clever squash to twist and turn a fit and athletic Jack Neave in 3 games to win the overall fixture.

A 3-2 fixture win for Stroud A to keep us top. Next week sees us take on East Glos D away.
