    Match report

Stroud A played Cotswold B away (7.30 start), with Simon Boucher (5) taking on Jon Plant and winning the cunning short rally battle in 3 games, the last game being the closest 11-8.

Owen Miessner (4) went 2-0 up against Chris Lavery, perhaps overplaying the cross-court in the third to bring the match into a fourth. Owen was close to letting Chris back in at the back end of the fourth too, but ultimately took it 16-14 to give Stroud a 2-0 match lead.

Sacha Cooper (2) played good, consistent squash to close out the first game, despite being in deficit until the back end at 9-9. The second game was short, with Sacha picking off Mitch's loose balls with some good drop shots, tight lengths and winners. He did well to close out the third too to give Stroud an overall match win.

Dave Norton (3) was unable to repeat his previous victory against Gary Burton, losing in 3 despite his best efforts to hit good lengths and use his good movement. Ultimately there were too many loose balls which Gary was able to put away, or use to build pressure in rallies and draw further loose shots.

Finally, Tony Richmond (1), took on Johnny Carne, playing for the first time this squash season. A tight first game consisting of long rallies was claimed by Johnny 11-9, but Tony came back with very tight lengths and drop shots to claim the second 11-2. The third and fourth also consisted of some long hard-fought rallies, but with Johnny maintaining his slight points lead to close both out in his favour.

A Stroud A victory 14-7 (3-2 in matches) if we continue to get a 4 rather than 5 point victory bonus.

Next week we take on CLC A at home. Three matches left this half, with the final 2 away at East Glos D and then the season closer two weeks later at Monmouth.
