    Match report

With Stroud resident at Wycliffe for their home Prem B match, and Wycliffe A team playing a home match in Prem A, it made for a busy event using all 4 glass-back courts with plenty of spectators. Simon Boucher played strongly against a young and fast opponent in Archie Larkman, who was making his Wycliffe debut in the fifth string match. Simon used his experience to push to a win in three straight games. Owen Miessner started strongly against new student Mason Li, taking a good first game before making too many mistakes and tiring to a 3-1 loss. Similarly, Dave Norton took the first game in the third string match, before Henry Surridge settled into a steady game plan with better shot selection and quality, increasing the pressure and pulling out a 3-1 win. Sacha Cooper (ex-Wycliffe student) managed to level the match score after a ding-dong battle against his friend Will Franklin, winning 11-9 in the fifth. Despite managing to level the deciding match 1-1 in a tough second game, Tony Richmond ultimately lost 3-1 at first string to new German-Italian student Alessio Fumagalli, who hit fine lines and lengths, well-placed lobs and some tight drops. With a 5-point bonus for the win on top of the individual games won, Wycliffe were victors 16-9. Stroud A will next host East Glos D at home on Tuesday October 8th.
